Cedar Grove Wellbeing Centre in Wallsend is opening it’s doors to existing and potential new customers on Saturday May 26th for it’s annual Spring Fair.
It’s a wonderful opportunity for us to showcase the centre and it’s facilities which now include a fabulous outdoor garden space for our customers to enjoy. Hopefully now the weather is improving we’ll be able to make full use of the garden and seating area said Michelle Clement Centre Manager.
Following a ‘taster day’ to better understand the facilities and support on offer Mrs M said “the centre team members are wonderful, it feels like an extended family already. My Husband will be attending every two weeks”

The Gender Pay Gap Explained
The gender pay gap is the difference in the average hourly wage of all men and women across a workforce. If women do more of the less well paid jobs within an organisation than men, the gender pay gap is usually bigger.

Carers Week 2018 11-17th June – How you can get involved
This year, Age UK are one of eight national charities preparing to join forces to help the UK’s 6.5 million unpaid carers stay ‘Healthy and Connected’ by recognising the local support that can help them maintain good mental and physical health.
Caroline Dinenage MP, Minister of State for Care, said:
“Carers’ invaluable contribution deserves to be recognised and I thank them for all they do. That’s why we will soon publish our Carers’ Action Plan and why they will be a key part of our upcoming proposals to reform social care. I urge everyone to get involved with Carers Week, to celebrate these true unsung heroes and ensure they get the support and recognition they truly deserve.”
There are lots of different ways to get involved in Carers Week. From sharing information with colleagues and customers to handing out leaflets at your local GP’s surgery, we all have a role to play in helping carers stay Healthy and Connected.

Ms M loves her EveryDay Living companionship service. “The hour passes quickly as I have plenty to talk about with Judith and I get on well with her. Judith is a lovely girl and I feel like we’re becoming good friends”. It is a first class service and I would recommend it to everyone”.
To hear more about our EveryDay Living service call our Customer Coordination Team on 0191 2877028
The EveryDay staff Facebook group has been created for staff members of Age UK North Tyneside and EveryDay following an idea developed at the Employee Engagement Forum.
We wanted to create a closed online space where staff members can access HR documents, learn about health events and initiatives happening as part of the Better Health at Work Award and be kept up to date with organisational change.
This is not an arena to express your personal opinions about the company, colleagues or management. The content will be monitored by admins and any posts that are deemed inappropriate will not be tolerated.
Take a look at EveryDay Staff and encourage your colleagues to take a look and join too.
We can’t tell you just how proud of our EveryDay Care Teams we are braving the ‘Beast from the East’ to ensure they delivered their support calls to our customers both in the Community and within our Extra Care schemes and Wellbeing Centres.
The weather has been against us all this week but they’ve bravely soldiered on. The teams have not only ensured that customers’ care needs were met but they’ve brought in groceries to ensure their safety and comfort at home too.
We truly respect the commitment and tenacity shown in facing into the arctic blast and putting our customers first.
Thank You All
Mrs and Mrs Y first contacted Age UK North Tyneside in June 2017. The couple had been working closely with a dedicated Admiral Nurse as part of Age UK’s specialist Dementia Team Service. Originally Mrs Y’s request was for someone to sit with her Husband who has Alzheimer’s allowing her to undertake the weekly grocery shop. Her immediate requirement was for respite support for herself and to provide him with some conversation, interaction and stimulation in her absence.
Age UK’s Information and Advice Team provided the couple with a benefit check to ensure that they were in receipt of the benefits they were entitled to then a member of the Customer Coordination Team visited to chat about their individual requirements and how Age UK and EveryDay might support them. The full range of Charity and EveryDay Services were explained to the couple in the comfort of their own home.
The EveryDay Living service was quickly set up in July allowing Mrs Y a much needed weekly break. She commented “The two hours break I get is important to me, I can concentrate on what I’m doing and not have to worry.”
Mrs Y said of her Husband “With dementia he forgets a lot but he is happy in the short term, he is happy to see them (Tracey & Phil) and to go out with them. Tracey is lovely, bouncy and cheerful. Phil has a caring personality and great rapport .”
“Continuity is everything where dementia is involved. It’s good to know it’s only two people coming now and I like that we’re told if it will change or if they can’t make it for any reason”
“They (Tracey & Phil) both asked if there was anything they needed to know which I think is important and I really appreciated. It shows that they put 110% in”
